New Ebbsfleet United defender Camron Gbadebo ready to help ensure former club Salisbury leave Stonebridge Road empty-handed on Saturday

Summer signing Camron Gbadebo is relishing the chance to face his former club this weekend.

The Ebbsfleet centre-back made his first start in Tuesday night’s goalless draw with Hemel Hempstead and is hoping to keep his place when Salisbury are the visitors on Saturday.

“I can’t wait, to be honest,” said Gbadebo. “I’m chomping at the bit to get to Saturday.

“They’re a dynamic side, they’re a good side. They’re quite off the cuff, so we’re going to have to be switched on from minute one to minute 90.

“It’s going to be an exciting game, but hopefully we can come out and get the three points.”

Gbadebo has made a positive start for an Ebbsfleet side yet to concede a goal so far this season.

He made the move in the summer after being impressed with Fleet boss Josh Wright.

“I spoke to the gaffer over the summer and the plans for where the club wants to be going through the next few years is something that I want to be a part of,” he explained.

“The style of play as well, it suits me. I’m just excited to get going, really. I’m just happy to get the ball rolling.

“I feel like I’m quite a composed player. I don’t mind pressure and it’s something that I’ve always been good at and I want to get better at still.”

The Fleet looked solid against Hemel on Tuesday but were unable to break through, particularly in the last half-hour when the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

“In the defensive end, I’m happy, but you always want to walk away from these games with three points, but it’s something to learn from,” explained Gbadebo.

“I think it was harder to play against 10. Once they got the red card, as happy as I was, I was thinking they’re going to get into a flat back-10 here.
