Man United star Leny Yoro breaks silence on injury as return timeline emerges after update

Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has broken his silence on a successful operation on his left foot.

On Monday, the club confirmed that the 18-year-old had undergone surgery on his fractured metatarsal sustained in the 2-1 pre-season defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles. The injury came in the first-half of United's first pre-season friendly of their tour of the United States.

Yoro, who the club believe can develop into one of the best defenders in the world, will now miss around three months of action. It's expected that he will be back available for Erik ten Hag in November.

Despite the blow to their summer signing, it's understood that the club are viewing the lay-off as an opportunity for him to settle into life in Manchester and familiarise himself with his new surroundings.

It does, however, mean that United are very likely to dip back into the transfer market and sign another central defender. Bayern Munich's Mattihjs de Ligt remains a strong target but there is a difference between the valuations of the two clubs of the Netherlands star.

News of Yoro's successful surgery comes as a personal boost for the youngster. Following the announcement of his operation, Yoro took to Instagram to react to the positive update.

Sharing United's statement on his story, he wrote: "Thanks God."
