Man United's Matthijs de Ligt transfer impact explained as Bayern Munich make 'final decision'

Manchester United's move for Matthijs de Ligt will reportedly not be impacted by Bayern Munich's pursuit of Jonathan Tah this summer.

The Reds are pushing to bring the former Ajax man to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes on August 30. Erik ten Hag has already added Leny Yoro to his defensive ranks for a fee in the region of £52m.

However, the 18-year-old suffered an injury during United's pre-season defeat to Arsenal in the United States last month. United are now pushing to bring another central defender to the club, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof also carrying slight knocks.

De Ligt is a clear favourite for Ten Hag, but the two clubs are yet to agree on a deal. As part of the Dutchman's potential switch to the Premier League, Bayern have been working tirelessly to bring in a replacement for the Netherlands international. Bayer Leverkusen ace Jonathan Tah has been the subject of interest.

However, reports in Germany claimed that Leverkusen had set a deadline at 11:59pm on Thursday night for a move to progress. Despite the defender's desire to move to Munich, the German champions are seeking clarity over the situation.
