Manchester United know that significant funds will have to be generated through player sales this summer.
Ahead of a campaign with no European football and with PSR (Profit and Sustainability) concerns, the Reds will need to sell to buy. Academy products are the most likely route to a PSR boost with their homegrown status allowing United to earn pure profit on any sale.
It's a significant reason behind why they sold Scott McTominay to Napoli last summer despite many at Old Trafford wanting the Scot to stay. Marcus Rashford looks set to be the next most likely academy graduate to leave M16 after his loan spell at Aston Villa in the second half of 2024/25.
