Man United ready to battle Real Madrid for transfer after double scouting mission

Manchester United have reportedly sent out scouts to watch two FC Porto players ahead of the January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim will have the opportunity to put his own stamp on the United squad once the window reopens and discussions would have already started taking place between the manager and the board over potential recruitments. Last week, it was reported that United had sent scouts to watch Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting Clube de Portugal's match against Arsenal in the Champions League.

This time, their attention turned to left-back Francisco Moura and forward Samu Aghehowa, formerly Omorodion according to the Daily Mail. The pair were in action for Porto's league match against Amorim's former club Casa Pia on Monday.

The left-back position has been one of the areas that need attention for United as Luke Shaw continues to struggle with injury. The England international suffered another injury setback after making his first appearance of the season in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Amorim could also look to strengthen his attacking options and Aghehowa would be no stranger to United. He caused headaches for the Reds' defence earlier this campaign in the 3-3 Europa League draw in Portugal.

The Spain international was very close to joining Chelsea for £35million before heading to the north of Portugal. He has 14 goal involvements in 16 games in all competitions.

With that said, it's thought to be 'unlikely' for United to have a roaring trade in the new year but it's important to gather all the information
