Man United reach 'verbal' agreement for Ruben Amorim favourite as transfer decision looms

Manchester United have already started to move ahead with their plans to rebuild their squad after reportedly reaching an agreement for young Sporting star Geovany Quenda.

The winger, who came through Sporting Clube de Portugal's academy, was handed his first-team debut by Ruben Amorim when he was in charge. He could now be set to reunite with the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford, as United are said to be lining up a bid for him.

That's according to talkSPORT, who claim United have already 'verbally agreed' personal terms with Quenda but are yet to decide whether to follow that up with an official bid. They will be in no rush to do so however, give they cannot register the teenager until July 1.

The report claims United are 'prepared' to pay around £33million (€40m) Sporting wanting to get a 'minimum' of £50m for him. It's said that Quenda has a release clause written in his contract that would allow him to leave for £83m.

However, that figure may be unrealistic with United requiring to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Quenda's versatility suits Amorim's 3-4-3 formation as the right-footed winger can also play as a wing-back.

"He's a very talented kid," Amorim previously said of Quenda. "Very physically robust, very focused, with his feet firmly on the ground. That's very important for a young player. He got his chance and there was no chance to take it away, no doubt, nothing. I think he's going to be a great player, but let's give it time."

The youngster returned the favour after Amorim's exit to United last November. "I will always thank him, he is a great coach. But now it is to continue working without him and let’s do it."
