Man United make wrong kind of Champions League history as they crash OUT of Europe with unwanted record

Manchester United are out of Europe altogether after finishing rock bottom of their Champions League group - and a stunning defensive stat shows just how bad it's been under Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils knew they were in for a tough one when they were drawn against Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray in Group A. But few expected it to go as disastrously as it did. They were bottom heading into the final game and needed to beat Bayern to make sure they cleared bottom spot and the indignity of leaving Europe altogether.

But it all went to pot as they went behind with 20 minutes ago to Kingsley Coman's strike, set up by none other than England captain and one-time United target Harry Kane. And it means they finished bottom of the pack, without even the parachute of Europa League football to fall back on after Christmas.

Things keep going from bad to worse at Old Trafford and Coman's strike to put them behind on the night was their 15th in just six games. As per Opta, that's the most EVER conceded by a Premier League team in the group stage in the competition's history.

They've taken just four points and the latest hammer blow comes after an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend - one which leaves them sixth in the table, just a point ahead of Newcastle and Brighton and in serious jeopardy of missing out on Europe altogether for NEXT season too.

Luckily for Erik ten Hag it's a nice and easy game up next. They travel to Anfield, where Liverpool haven't lost for 15 league games and sit top of the league.
