Man United legend Edwin van der Sar gives update on his health after brain haemorrhage

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has recovered and is 'doing well' after suffering a brain haemorrhage last year.

Van der Sar was admitted to hospital in June whilst on holiday with his family in Croatia and was said not to be in 'life-threatening danger', and in a stable condition.

Nonetheless, his admission was still a shock and he was relocated to a hospital in the Netherlands to continue his recovery. The former goalkeeper remained in intensive care, but he was released a week later and confirmed he would focus on his path to full health at home.

He also revealed he had recently visited the Caribbean for a holiday with his wife, but that he avoided former Netherlands colony Curacao because there are “too many Dutch people".

During the festive period, Van der Sar visited Old Trafford to watch United defeat Aston Villa 3-2 and he was pictured on the pitch with Robin van Persie after the victory.

Van der Sar had been Ajax's chief executive until leaving that position two months before his bleed on the brain. He made 266 appearances for United between 2005
