Man United legend David de Gea sends cryptic wordless message after Erik ten Hag sacking

David de Gea has sent a cryptic wordless message a few hours after Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag.

The shot-stopper left Old Trafford at the end of his contract last summer, having made a club record 545 appearances as a goalkeeper in United colours, winning five major trophies since joining in 2011. Ten Hag chose to replace the Spaniard with Andre Onana from Inter Milan after working with the Cameroonian at Ajax.

De Gea spent almost a year without a club before joining Italian Serie A side Florentina this summer. The 33-year-old has made eight appearances so far this season, keeping two clean sheets across all competitions.

The goalkeeper had a special bond with United fans despite several glaring errors on the pitch in later years. Announcing his departure from the Reds in July 2023, De Gea said: "I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We've achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

"I took incredible pride every time I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers. It's been an unforgettable and successful period
