'You never know' - Zlatan Ibrahimovic drops transfer hint on Manchester United cast-off's next move

AC Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has refused to rule out the possibility of Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof joining the Italian club next summer.

The Swedish international is out-of-contract at Old Trafford at the end of this season and it is increasingly likely that his deal will not be renewed. United, as reported by the Manchester Evening News at the time, were keen to sell Lindelof in the most recent transfer window as it represented their last meaningful opportunity to cash-in on the 30-year-old.

The Swede encountered an injury towards the end of pre-season, forcing him to miss the start of this campaign, and that derailed United's hopes of selling him. He has not started a Premier League fixture so far this term.

The former Benfica defender is already being linked with various clubs ahead of next summer, including Milan. Lindelof's fellow countryman and former United striker Ibrahimovic is a senior advisor to the Serie A club's ownership group Red Bird. As a result, he has been quizzed on the prospect of the Italian club swooping for the centre-back next summer.

Asked if Lindelof could end up at Milan, Ibrahimovic, speaking to TV4, said: "You never know. There are a lot of rumours being spread.

"That rumour is more because I'm Swedish and Lindelof is Swedish. He is a fantastic player. I think he is doing well at United [but] we have many good players in that position. I don't know what he wants. You can probably ask him."
