Man United final Premier League place chances assessed after Southampton win in ominous message

Manchester United moved into the top half of the table following their 3-0 win away at Southampton on Saturday, although few are getting carried away with the result.

While their second trip to the south coast this season was a success, their first still stings having conceded a stoppage-time goal to lose to Brighton & Hove Albion prior to the capitulation against Manchester United a week later.

After that defeat to their rivals at Old Trafford, captain Bruno Fernandes surprised almost nobody by admitting that the United squad is not capable of winning the Premier League this season. Many are questioning whether even a top-four finish is a viable target.

A supercomputer from OLBG reckons United will fail in this endeavour and predicts that the club will finish outside of the European places altogether. Despite the victory at Southampton, it forecasts United for another eighth place finish.

The club ended last season in that position - their lowest-ever Premier League finish - and only qualified for Europe thanks to their shock FA Cup final win over Manchester City. The supercomputer speculates that United will only win 13 more Premier League games this season and will lose 10 more.

It has put Chelsea in third ahead of Liverpool, with Newcastle United, West Ham and Tottenham making up the top seven with Man City cast as winners ahead of Arsenal in second.

Despite their win over Liverpool, Nottingham Forest are placed in the relegation zone with Southampton and Ipswich Town making up the final two spaces.
