Manchester United 'identify' Christian Eriksen replacement as Erik ten Hag decision 'emerges'

Manchester United could be set for a busy January transfer window if the latest reports are to be believed.

United signed five players during the summer window with Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte all added to the squad. It remains to be seen if United will look to bring in further reinforcements when the window opens again in the New Year.

Erik ten Hag's side were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend in the Premier League. United will now prepare to face Porto in the Champions League on Thursday night before taking on Aston Villa at the weekend in their final match before the October international break.

United are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. According to TEAMtalk, the Reds are monitoring the 20-year-old and could make an offer to bring the player to Old Trafford either in January or next summer.

Wharton only signed for Palace in January this year from Blackburn Rovers and just a few months later was named in the England squad for Euro 2024. Now the midfielder is being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with the report claiming United will face competition from Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich for his signature.

It has also been reported that United view Wharton as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
