Man spends days in hospital after 'unprovoked' attack at pub

Police have released a CCTV image after a man suffered a broken jaw following an 'unprovoked' assault at a Tameside pub. Greater Manchester Police says the attack took place at the Organ Inn, on Acres Lane, Stalybridge.

Following initial enquiries, detectives say the victim was approached by the suspect before being attacked for no apparent reason. He received treatment the following day, when medics confirmed he had suffered a broken jaw as a result of a blow to the face.

The victim had to stay in hospital for a number of days as a precaution. GMP has released the CCTV image this morning (January 11) as it continues to investigate the attack, which took place on October 31 last year, between 9.30pm and 11pm.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Greater Manchester Police would like to speak to the man pictured, as officers believe that they could assist with further enquiries relating to this incident. Officers are appealing for anyone who recognises this man or if anyone has any further information that could assist police with their investigation."

Information can be passed on to GMP by calling 0161 856 9262, quoting crime number CRI/06GG/0025462/23, or online using the ‘tell us about’ tool on the force's website. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
