No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway. Earlier today, a cordon was erected on Lumn Road.

It covered a stretch of the street between Ridling Lane and Tom Shepley Street. Pictures showed a number of police vehicles stationed on the scene, with cars parked at either end of the cordon.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Our officers were called at 11.30pm last night (Sunday 4 August 2024) to reports of thieves at an address on Lumn Road in Hyde, Tameside. We attended the address and found a man in his 20s with serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as life-changing not life-threatening.
