Man City transfer news LIVE Sterling and Ake to Chelsea latest plus Kalvin Phillips news

Tuesday was yet another busy day at Manchester City after Kalvin Phillips arrived at the Etihad on Monday.

Enzo Maresca has rejoined the club as one of Pep Guardiola's backroom staff with Rodolfo Borrell becoming the new No.2 at the club.

Borrell joined City in 2014 after leaving Liverpool and after a few years with the academy became one of Guardiola's assistants when the Catalan arrived at the Etihad in 2016. After working with three different No.2s on the coaching staff, Borrell - who took charge of the team at Swindon in the FA Cup in January amid a Covid outbreak in the squad - will now become Guardiola's right-hand man following the departure of Juanma Lillo.

The number of assistants will be restored by the arrival of Maresca. The Italian coach earned rave reviews from Guardiola and others for his work with the Under-23s two years ago - and in particular the development of Cole Palmer and Liam Delap - and after a short-lived management spell at Parma he is back in Manchester to help out the City first team.

Losing those two players - albeit for significant fees - cuts out a lot of experience in Pep Guardiola's forward line, and also reduces the numbers in a squad
