Every word from Pep Guardiola press conference on Man City team news vs Aston Villa and transfer reaction

Pep Guardiola gave a team news update on three Manchester City players ahead of the Premier League game at Aston Villa tomorrow (Saturday).

City were comfortable 6-0 winners over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, although they won that game without Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake and Kalvin Phillips who were all injured. Guardiola said before the Forest game that the trio were all back in light training and could be ready for the trip to Villa, so he could offer a fresh update today.

Grealish and Ake have been pictured in training since the Forest encounter, raising hopes they are close to returning for Villa.

Guardiola also expanded on why City made a late move for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji on transfer deadline day, and he also reflected on the Blues' overall transfer business with the window finally closed.

Recap below for every word from Guardiola in his press conference from 1.30pm.

That's the end of the open section. We'll tidy up those quotes and bring you the top stories.

"I work for City, not for Erling. He doesn't work for me, he works for City. We are really pleased about him, a lovely guy. You see his passion, in the same way with Stefan, Julian, Kalvin, now Manuel, this is what I'm looking for. To be comfortable here, what happens in the future I don't know. I have the feeling he can get better. Understand what we want. A question of time, take time for the process. For example De Bruyne, or Mahrez or Bernardo to learn the tempos. Important is comfortable, of course his goals help. Continue to do better.

"Tomorrow is another example, another challenge. Keep going, the bad moments will happen he doesn't score and we lose. Relax, analyse why and next one. It won't change the world if he doesn't score
