Arsenal want more than one deadline day signing at the Emirates

Arsenal would like ‘one or two’ more signings before the transfer window slams shut at 11 pm tonight, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Gunners have enjoyed a productive summer with manager Mikel Arteta adding significant strength to his first-team squad, yet further additions could still be made in the remaining hours.

So far, Arsenal have brought in the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko, and the new-look side have made a strong start to the season.

However, the north London outfit have offloaded winger Nicolas Pepe on a season-long loan deal to OGC Nice, while central midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are sidelined through injury.

Arsenal have consequently been linked with a host of players in those positions as Arteta understandably looks to address their lack of strength in depth.

It remains to be seen if the capital club can get any deals over the line before the window closes for another four months, though.

Bridge believes that Arteta may want a 27-player squad to work with for the current campaign due to the congested fixture list and reckons a couple of signings could arrive today.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “It looks like they want this central midfielder, but Arsenal would probably like another wide player as well.

“It comes down to this thing, usually a manager likes a squad of 23, 24. I think that’s changed to about 27 now, I reckon. So, I think Arsenal would like one or two max.”

The Daily Mail has revealed that Arsenal are ‘exploring a deal’ to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, and they are said to value the 21-year-old at around £18 million.
