Man City player ratings vs Tottenham as Josko Gvardiol impresses

Ederson: Has been praised for his shotstopping recently but let Son's shot through him. Decent distribution under pressure. 6

Walker: Terrific in the first half where his pace was invaluable in keeping City in charge. Didn't have as much to do in the second as he and Foden faded. 7

Akanji: Was not able to push up too much with Rodri but played his part in ensuring Spurs were unable to get much joy for the majority of the game. 7

Dias: Much improved on midweek, marshalling the defence and protecting Ederson. 7

Gvardiol: One of his brightest games since a summer switch, winning the ball in good positions and driving forward to support the attack, although booked for a late challenge. 8

Rodri: Played an important part in winning the ball back for Grealish's winner, although earned a first-half booking that will rule him out of the Villa game. 7

Silva: Summed up City's afternoon, doing well to win possession off Spurs all over the pitch but then not using it as well as he could. 7

Alvarez: Set up Foden's goal but otherwise didn't use the ball as well as he usually does, wasting some good opportunities. 6

Foden: The pick of the City attack, taking his goal well and regularly testing the Spurs backline with dangerous runs. 7

Doku: Poor to be beaten so easily by Son for the goal, but much better at the other end of the pitch with his dribbling and passing contributing to a goal. 7

Haaland: Some good link-up play and a nice assist for Grealish, but he also missed two glaring chances that he normally would have scored without a moment's thought. 6

Grealish (for Doku, 52) Risked Guardiola's wrath by giving up a dangerous counter and getting booked, but scored what should have been the winner. 7

Lewis (for Foden, 73) Pushed up well
