'We're cooking' - Man City fans love Pep Guardiola team selection decision vs Crystal Palace

Manchester City are back in Premier League action at home to Crystal Palace this afternoon and Pep Guardiola has made a surprising decision in central midfield with Rico Lewis starting.

City already have two wins under their belt in the past week, coming from behind to beat Luton Town last weekend before Wednesday's 3-2 Champions League win over Crvena zvezda. Both victories were without Erling Haaland and the Norwegian is missing again today due to a foot injury.

Haaland's absence has seen Guardiola move Julian Alvarez into his natural No.9 role, following a long spell playing off the Norwegian. The Argentinian's influence has faded a little in recent weeks but he's continued to tick along with goals and assists and will hope for more of both against a struggling Palace defence.

Jeremy Doku is alongside Haaland in the treatment room after picking up a knock against Tottenham, with Jack Grealish and Phil Foden on the right and left respectively. The latter has two goals in his last two Premier League appearances after a slow start to the campaign.

Alvarez's move forward has seen space open up in the advanced midfield role and Guardiola has decided to give Bernardo Silva the creative freedom. He will roam further forward with Rodri shoring things up in the middle of the park and Lewis providing stability between the two.
