Telling Erik ten Hag decision points to his Manchester United frustration

Luke Shaw: An eye-catching inclusion. After missing a chunk of the season owing to injury, Shaw has now played three matches since completing his rehabilitation, and in that time has shown United exactly what they have been missing. He was deployed at centre-back against Newcastle.

He excelled there last campaign and there was some merit to the decision. Ten Hag favours a left-footer inside as that can open up different passing lanes. Even though Shaw moving to centre-back left United light elsewhere, he was one of their better performers and it wouldn't be unthinkable to see him stay put.

Alejandro Garnacho: The supremely-talented Argentine underlined his credentials as a starter with goals in back-to-back games against Everton and Galatasaray respectively. It was quite telling that Garnacho remained on the field and Marcus Rashford was sacrificed when United needed a goal.
