Man City player Phil Foden sends Manchester United star Marcus Rashford message ahead of new season

Manchester City star Phil Foden has shared images of him training with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford on social media ahead of their respective returns to their clubs for pre-season.

One Instagram image sees Foden jockeying Rashford with the ball at feet while several moments of shooting practice were captured. The pair faced off in the FA Cup final last month as City won the second trophy of their Treble.

Both were then on international duty together for England’s matches against North Macedonia and Malta. The pair put club rivalry aside once again to help each other gear up for the new season in an exotic setting in warm sunshine.

Foden sent a message to Rashford in the caption of the Instagram post, saying: “Working hard @marcusrashford It’s all love until the season starts.” Rashford replied with a simple loveheart emoji.

Rashford is due to return to Carrington on Saturday ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Lyon in Scotland. Meanwhile, Foden is due back at the Etihad soon with City’s first warm-up of the summer coming against Bayern Munich in Japan next week.

Rashford and Foden will be aiming to cement their places in the England squad this season ahead of next summer’s European Championships in Germany.

Beforehand, Rashford will be looking to build on last season’s League Cup win at United while Foden attempts to defend the Treble with City.

He will also play in the Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup following June’s Champions League success.
