Luke Shaw reveals Manchester United dressing room mood ahead of new season

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has revealed that Erik ten Hag's players are "excited" ahead of the new season.

United ended their six-year wait for a major trophy last term, lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley to clinch a first piece of silverware at the first available opportunity under manager Ten Hag. The Reds defeated Newcastle United 2-0 courtesy of goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

Ten Hag's troops used that triumph in February as a platform to build upon and they went on to achieve a top-four finish, securing a route back into the Champions League, while they also reached the FA Cup final. Unfortunately, however, they were denied a second piece of silverware for the season against Manchester City, losing 2-1.

Despite ending the campaign on a disappointing note, the 2022/23 season was one of encouragement for United, who made tremendous strides in Ten Hag's maiden term at the club. Shaw insists the club should be looking to clinch every trophy available to them this season, adding that the players are excited about the new campaign.

"Our aim from the start of the season has to be winning every single competition we're in and I feel like if we keep adding more strength to our squad, then why not?"
