Man City owners could grant Man United transfer wish as £25m instruction clear

Erik ten Hag has reportedly made contact with Girona forward Viktor Tsygankov over a potential move to Manchester United this summer.

The 26-year-old winger made 30 league appearances last season as Girona secured Champions League qualification for the first time in their history, finishing third in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

According to Spanish publication AS, United are admirers of the Ukraine international and, as a result, have made contact with the player's entourage. The report adds that Girona face a fight to keep Tsygankov at the club.

However, even though United are yet to make a formal offer to Girona, it is claimed Ten Hag has held discussions with Tsygankov - who has a £25m release clause - over a summer move to Old Trafford.

United's pursuit of the 26-year-old, though, is unlikely to be straightforward, especially as it is the City Football Group - the parent company of Manchester City - that own 47% of the La Liga side. Earlier this month, UEFA ruled that both City and Girona would be able to compete in the 2024/25 Champions League after "significant changes" at board level ensured no one has "control or decisive influence" over both clubs.

Girona, though, will remain in the CFG stable and hope to keep hold of Tsygankov as they look to build on last season's impressive campaign.
