Man City manager Pep Guardiola makes Premier League final day prediction

Pep Guardiola is taking confidence for Sunday from the reaction of his Manchester City players in the Tottenham dressing room in midweek – but is still expecting 'another Villa'.

City survived an almighty scare in North London to run out 2-0 winners in their 37th Premier League game of the season, which means they enter the 38th and final match with the chance to make history with a fourth straight title.

Should City beat West Ham, nothing Arsenal can do against Everton will change the outcome of the title race.

Both City goals on Tuesday night were celebrated emphatically by goalscorer Erling Haaland and his teammates, with the players recognising the magnitude of the game in the bigger context of their season. However, once they went inside after the full-time whistle Guardiola witnessed scenes that were more like business as usual.

"I saw perfectly the reaction in the locker room at Spurs," said Guardiola. "They were relieved, wow, but there were not extra celebrations or something like that. They were happy but incredibly calm, nothing more special than another game in the Premier League."

As positive as that has been, the City manager is expecting another nerve-shredding 90 minutes. this weekend City won the title in front of their own fans in 2022 but only after a dramatic second-half comeback against Aston Villa that turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 victory.

Guardiola added: "We need to win one game to be champions so everyone would love to be in our position. But it won't be easy. I have the feeling it will be an Aston Villa game.
