Man City maintain stance on Premier League charges in 2022/23 financial report

Manchester City made brief reference to the 115 Premier League charges levelled at them in their annual financial report, released on Wednesday.

In February, the Premier League referred 115 alleged rule breaches to an independent commission, which could carry significant punishments if proven. City have always maintained their innocence, and welcomed an impartial review where they can defend themselves.

On Tuesday, in their annual report and financial report, there were three references made to the charges, all reiterating the club's stance from February.

At the time, their statement said: "Manchester City Football Club is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with. The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

"As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."

Now, the club have made reference to the charges in three sections of the annual financial report - under 'Risks and Uncertainties', 'Going Concern' and 'Other commitments.'

The identical passage reads: "On 6 February 2023, in accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4.
