Supercomputer predicts Man City vs Tottenham Premier League outcome

Manchester City are expected to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, according to a supercomputer.

Pep Guardiola's men trail Arsenal as they seek to break a Premier League record and land a fourth consecutive league title. Recent draws against Chelsea and Liverpool have put the buffers on their charge at the top.

Their opponents have fallen off the bandwagon somewhat after a series of untimely injuries. James Maddison and Micky van de Ven are out until January with Rodrigo Bentancur now also sidelined, having just returning from a long-term absence. And the BetVictor Supercomputer has predicted the outcome of the weekend clash.

It says a City win is calculated at 66.6 percent with a draw coming in at 18.8 percent. Spurs have been given a mere 15.1 percent expectation of beating the English champions but could cause an upset if the likes of Heung-min Son can deliver.

The supercomputer also has City down to win the league by amassing 83 points. Tottenham are only expected to hit 61 points and are expected to slump down to 8th by the end of the season, as shown in the final predicted table below:

As described by the website: "The supercomputer adopts the Monte Carlo method, at its heart is a Python-based match simulator that uses two Poisson distributions – one for the home team and one for the away team – to anticipate the number of goals each team could score in a match. A Poisson distribution is a powerful mathematical concept that predicts the probability of a given number of events (in this case, goals) happening in a fixed interval of time."
