Man City FFP boost set to help win Premier League title as Arsenal learn final day truth

Stefan Ortega is set to start for Manchester City against West Ham on Sunday with Ederson ruled out through injury.

Pep Guardiola's side will be without their first-choice shot-stopper against the Hammers as they look to make history. The reigning Premier League champions know that victory over David Moyes' team will see them become the first team to win four consecutive top-flight titles.

And it is a testament to City's recruitment that there is very little difference between the club's first and second-choice goalkeepers. No City fan will be nervous about having a backup keeper in goal for their biggest game of the season after the crucial saves Ortega made on Tuesday against Tottenham.

The German arrived at the Etihad in July 2022 on a free transfer after his contract at Arminia Bielefeld expired. Ortega's arrival has also boosted City's Financial Fair Play (FFP ) situation as well with the champions acquiring a quality player without needing to pay out a transfer fee, leaving more change in the pocket for acquisitions elsewhere in the squad.

With City having battled out a closely-run Premier League title race with Arsenal this season, Ortega looks set to play a key role should Guardiola's men go on to lift the trophy. The Gunners must beat Everton on Sunday and hope City slip up if they are going to pull off an unlikely title win.

One potential downside to Ortega's impressive performances since joining City is the possibility that he may want to leave in search of more playing time.

The 31-year-old still has plenty of years
