Manchester United fans send cheeky Man City FFP dig ahead of FA Cup final

Manchester United supporters have installed a cheeky temporary road sign in Manchester ahead of the FA Cup final against fierce rivals Manchester City this afternoon.

Both sets of fans are descending on Wembley Stadium on Saturday in a repeat of last season's cup final which the Blues won 2-1. Ahead of the game and the trip down to the national stadium, some Reds fans decided to have a dig at the Blues by installing a temporary road sign on the motorway which read: "Cheats follow A556. Jct. 115."

This was a clear reference to the 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges which City have been accused of breaching by the Premier League. These charges were released in February 2023 and allege that the Blues provided inaccurate financial information regarding player and manager payments between 2009 and 2018.

City have vehemently denied any wrongdoing and have stressed they have evidence which exonerates them. However, this evidence has not been heard yet because a date for the hearing has not yet been set.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters has failed to announce a date for the hearing but it is understood it shall take place soon. MEN Sport understands the outcome of the hearing will not be published until the summer of 2025 due to the complexity of the case.

Both United and City head into the cup final with different reasons for wanting to win. City are chasing a double after securing the Premier League title last weekend while victory for United shall book the Reds a place in next season's Europa League.
