Man City drop Crvena Zvezda team news hint as 23 players in training squad

Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku remain out for Manchester City as the Blues prepare to take on Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League this week.

Neither player trained at the City Football Academy on Tuesday morning, with the squad flying to Belgrade afterwards for their final Champions League Group G fixture - with City already guaranteed of topping the group. Ederson was also absent through illness.

On Sunday, Pep Guardiola said that Haaland would be assessed on a weekly basis with a 'stress on the bone' in his foot, and was unlikely to be ready to face Crystal Palace on Saturday, and also doubtful for the Club World Cup next week. Doku has a muscle injury, and Guardiola was keen not to rush him back and aggravate it.

In total, 23 players trained on Tuesday, including some academy players as Guardiola may look to rotate his squad for a game with no pressure on the result for either side.

City's youngsters have also topped their group in the UEFA Youth League, and the club have until midnight on Tuesday to confirm any under-21 players in their Champions League squad 'B List' that makes them eligible to play against Red Star. Kane Taylor, Max Alleyne, Mahamadou Susoho and Micah Hamilton were involved in training.

Guardiola could look to fringe players like Matheus Nunes, Kalvin Phillips, Oscar Bobb, and Sergio Gomez, while the likes of Rico Lewis, Manu Akanji and John Stones could feature after not starting at Luton on Sunday.
