Alvarez in and Foden dropped as Man City fans name line up vs Fluminense

Manchester City are 90 minutes away from getting their hands on another trophy.

The treble-winners will meet Brazilian opponents Fluminense at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah tonight (6pm) for the right to be crowned world champions. The title would be a first for City, who eased through their Club World Cup semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds.

City are unable to call upon Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland due to injury and competition rules. However, manager Pep Guardiola does have plenty of talent at his disposal. The Manchester Evening News readers were asked to share their thoughts on selection for the Fluminense game. Here's the preferred City starting XI they cooked up between them;

Goalkeeper - Ederson

Ederson remains the undisputed number one between the posts. He was a unanimous pick.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake

Fit-again England defender John Stones has given City a huge boost in their ongoing pursuit for silverware given he can step into midfield in the 'hybrid' position he made his own last season. Stones was picked alongside Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake in the semi-final, but supporters want to see Ruben Dias recalled for the showpiece.

Midfielders - Matheus Nunes, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic

Having initially led the City line in their semi-final win, Nunes is tipped to return to a more familiar role in midfield for this one along with Rodri and Kovacic - who scored en-route to the Jeddah showpiece. Despite still being without De Bruyne through injury, there are countless options for Guardiola.
