Four Man City players with a point to prove on international duty this week

Manchester City players are dropping like flies, with five injury issues picked up this week to take the injury list to eight.

Rodri was the latest player to give City concern on Thursday as he was left out of Spain's clash against Cyprus amid reports of 'discomfort' that meant he was unable to play the fixture. If injured, he joins Ederson, Nathan Ake, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes who have all withdrawn from this week's fixtures.

Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Gomez and John Stones were already on the injury list, and if Rodri is out, that takes City's available outfield players to just 12 ahead of next week's clash against Liverpool.

However, a number of players remain on international duty this week, with four in particular able to use their fixtures to make a point to Pep Guardiola back at City:

Jack Grealish

After losing his regular place on the left-wing to Jeremy Doku, Grealish at least was first-choice for the bigger games at the start of the season - until last weekend when he was on the bench as Doku started at Chelsea. Grealish has had to fight for minutes with England, but should be confident of minutes this week as injuries have hit Gareth Southgate's squad.

There is no James Maddison or Jude Bellingham, with his direct competition coming from Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden. He is in better form than Rashford, and Saka is better on the opposite flank, while Foden could be needed more centrally. Only Cole Palmer could rival him for minutes, although he is unlikely to start the two
