Major road shut for two-mile stretch in Leigh after crash - updates
A two-mile stretch of a major road in Leigh has been closed in both directions following a crash.
Atherleigh Way is currently shut between the A572 St. Helens Road and A580 East Lancashire Road, according to Transport for Greater Manchester. The road is fully blocked both ways.
According to traffic alert service Inrix, the road has been closed since the early hours of this morning. Drivers are being urged to use different routes.

A tweet posted by TfGM said: "A579 Atherleigh Way, Leigh. Road closure in both directions between A572 St. Helens Road and A580 East Lancashire Road.
"This is due to a road traffic collision. Alternative route via A580 and Newton Road/St.Helens Road. #TfGMTraffic for updates."
