Pedestrian rushed to hospital after 'crash' on busy Manchester road
A pedestrian was rushed to hospital tonight after a reported crash on a busy road in south Manchester. The incident happened on Wilmslow Road, at around 5.50pm.
Police temporarily blocked off the north side of the road, heading into Manchester city centre, causing heavy congestion and delays. Paramedics treated the casualty at the scene.
Shortly before 6.45pm, the pedestrian, whose age is not known, was taken into an ambulance stretcher and rushed to hospital. The nature of any injuries or their condition have not yet been confirmed by police.

There was a significant emergency services response to the incident, with multiple police vehicles and two ambulances at the scene that arrived on blue lights. Officers ensured any passers-by were swiftly moved on from the area.
Transport for Greater Manchester announced the news at around 5.55pm, and said: "Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, between Claremont Road - Park Crescent Inbound. Ongoing police incident. Please avoid this area or take an alternative route."
Stagecoach bus services, which are among those operating along the busy bus corridor in and out of Manchester, said their services would be diverted in both directions via Dickenson Road, Anson Road and Hathersage Road. The bus provider also said there were delays of around half an hour on their services. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further information.
