LIVE: Busy road closed and detectives at the scene after 'road traffic collision' - latest updates
A busy road has been closed after a 'collision' in the early hours of this morning (Saturday August 6).
Market Street, in Westhoughton, has been taped off between Church Street and Mill Street, since around 2.30am. Photographs taken from the scene show detectives in attendance and a bin knocked on its side, with shards of glass and other debris in the road.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said that the closure is in place due to a 'road traffic collision' and Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police (GMP) for more information about the nature of the incident.
TfGM tweeted: "Market Street, Westhoughton CLOSED between Church St and Mill St. This is due to a road traffic collision.
"Bus services will be diverted, please check with your operator. If you're heading this way, please use an alternative route."
