Major road closed as firefighters rush to scene after skip lorry goes up in flames
One of the main roads in Salford is currently blocked after a lorry erupted into flames. Firefighters are at the scene tackling a blaze which broke out in a skip on the back of a truck on the A57 Liverpool Road near Barton just before 7am.
Pictures showed bright orange flames lapping up the top of the skip close to the Liverpool Road/Cadishead Way roundabout at Boysnope Wharf as stunned motorists looked on.
Crews remain at the scene.
Traffic has currently been stopped in both directions leading to rush hour queues whilst emergency services deal with the incident
