Maidstone United team-mates TJ Bramble and Deon Moore to become international rivals when Antigua & Barbuda meet Guyana next week

Maidstone United team-mates are set to face each other on international duty in what must surely be a first for the club.

Midfielder TJ Bramble has been called up by Antigua & Barbuda, while striker Deon Moore is in the Guyana squad for Concacaf Friendly Series matches.

The countries meet next Tuesday, and the Stones duo are likely to feature.

“It will be fun,” said Bramble. “I’m hoping to beat him!”

Before that, Antigua & Barbuda meet Aruba tomorrow, and Guyana take on Bonaire on Saturday.

Nothing beats playing for your country.

“It’s always one of the things I pride myself on,” said Bramble.

“Representing your country, I don’t think it gets any better than that.

“It will be my 21st and 22nd cap, so I’ve been going for a few years now, and I just love every minute of it.

“It’s very different to club football because obviously I play for Antigua, so the weather and the climate change make it a lot harder, running in the heat.

“But you settle down quite quickly, to be fair.

“The games are slower, because of the heat, you’ve got to take into consideration, but they’re good games.

“It will always be special to get called up.

“It’s something I’m very proud of, my family are very proud of, and I’ll always be grateful for.

“We’ve had a few managers over the years but most of the time, it’s a message and then a phone call, a conversation to ask how you feel, and then they call you up, email your club, so it’s a smooth process.”

Bramble and Moore, who has scored five goals in 14 Guyana appearances, will miss Maidstone’s FA Trophy tie at Torquay this weekend.

“Everyone at Maidstone United would like to congratulate TJ and Deon on their selections and wish them the very best of luck in their upcoming matches,” said the Stones.
