Maidstone United manager George Elokobi has known his team for National League South game at Eastbourne Borough since losing to Slough Town
Maidstone boss George Elokobi has known his starting XI for tonight’s game at Eastbourne Borough since the weekend.
The Stones head to Priory Lane - scene of last season’s National League South play-off semi-final victory - on the back of a 2-1 home defeat by Slough on Saturday.
Elokobi was disappointed with the performance against the Rebels as United surrendered a half-time lead, describing their defending as “absolutely shambolic”.
It was a display that might have led to some head-scratching in terms of selection but Elokobi immediately knew what he was going to do against an Eastbourne side fighting relegation.
“There’s no selection headache, I already know what team we’re going to be playing,” said Elokobi, speaking after the Slough game.
“The players need to go away, they need to analyse.
“They’ll have this game to watch back, I hope they do watch it and watch it closely.
“As a management team, it’s our job to make sure we do our preparations right because it’s going to be a tough affair down at Eastbourne.
“Let’s see who is going to roll their sleeves up and we’ll be ready for a battle.
“But it’s not just a battle, it’s to show quality, like we did with John Gilbert’s goal (against Slough).”
Maidstone are five points outside the play-offs in eighth place, while Eastbourne are seven points from safety amid a difficult campaign.
