Maidstone United defender David Sesay preserves ever-present record after successful appeal against red card in draw at Torquay

David Sesay maintained his record as Maidstone’s only ever-present player in National League South this season following a successful red-card appeal.

Sesay was dismissed for violent conduct during the first half of the Stones’ 1-1 draw at Torquay last weekend.

But footage showed Gulls keeper James Hamon had grabbed Sesay’s hand and forced it into his face before throwing himself to the floor.

United’s appeal was upheld, leaving the right-back free to face Hemel Hemel Hempstead at the Gallagher on Saturday.

Maidstone lost 1-0 - their first defeat in seven games - but manager George Elokobi was pleased to have Sesay available for his 26th successive league appearance since arriving from Eastbourne Borough last summer.

“We are a fair club,” said Elokobi. “We don’t try and get people sent off.

“I don’t want to talk about someone else’s team, however, we knew straight away when we watched the footage back that it was simulation by the keeper.
