'Magician' - Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray's reaction to Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo stunner

Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo scored a stunning curling effort from outside the box for loan side Sunderland as boss Tony Mowbray dubbed the prospect a 'magician'.

The 20-year-old Ivorian has spent the season away from United with the Black Cats in the Championship. It has been a successful campaign for both the player and his loan club.

Diallo has found the back of the net on 14 occasions so far this season, following a marvellous strike this afternoon in the first leg of Sunderland's Championship play-offs semi-final against Luton Town. The Black Cats won 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Having fallen behind to Elijah Adebayo's 11th-minute opener, the Black Cats, who snuck into the final play-off berth on the final day of the season, levelled things up shortly before half-time through a sublime Amad goal. The United loanee bent home a stunning free-kick into the far corner of the net to take the roof off the Stadium of Light.

Trai Hume netted what proved to be the winner in the second half for the hosts. Sunderland make the trip to Kenilworth Road for the second leg on Tuesday evening.

And Mowbray, having seen Amad's talents throughout the course of the campaign, was not surprised by the strike as he dubbed the youngster a 'magician'. The Black Cats will now be seeking to reach Wembley with a positive result on Tuesday evening.

Speaking after the game, Mowbray said: "Amad, he's a magician with his left peg and he's scored many goals like that this season.

"So it's no surprise to anybody. It was a great goal.
