Madcap Rangers conspiracy sets Hotline ablaze as angry Aberdeen punters told wind your necks in

Aberdeen may feel 'shocked' at the SFA's decision to throw out an appeal against Graeme Shinnie's red card against Ross County but the Hotline wasn't so surprised.

The Dons midfielder also had his suspension increased from three games to four by a Scottish FA tribunal and opinion was split over the player's challenge on Jack Baldwin. Craig Dewar, Glasgow, said: "Shinnie can have no complaints as it was a red card all day long and the County player was fortunate not to have suffered a serious injury. Aberdeen were wasting the SFA's time by appealing what was the correct decision so I don't understand their outrage. It was a shocking challenge and the intent was clear as day."

Mark Gallagher, Perth, said: "Aberdeen are asking for a new review panel to look at Shinnie's challenge and I presume they believe it will come to a different conclusion. If they get their wish and that appeal fails will they ask for another panel to be arranged so they get it thrown out eventually? Shinnie was fortunate his follow-through in the tackle didn't cause a career ending situation for Baldwin so I just don't get why they feel so aggrieved. These types of tackles need to be outlawed in football."

Ian Wilson, Stirling, said: "The culture in Scottish football is for clubs to complain about everything when they don't get their way and it is bordering on playing the conspiracy card. Shinnie was an open and shut case, anyone who defends that type of challenge doesn't understand football as it displayed disregard for an opponent's safety. Aberdeen can scream and shout all they want but it was fully deserving of the red card and a long ban."
