Livingston boss calls on fans to 'be the difference' in top-six bid finale against Dundee United

Livingston boss David Martindale has hailed the impact of the club’s supporters and called on as many as possible to get behind the team at Tannadice this weekend,

The Lions head into the final game before the split needing a win to get back into the top-six.

Even that might not be enough as they also need either St Mirren to lose at home to Kilmarnock or Hibs to fail to beat St Johnstone in Perth. Despite a recent downturn in form, it’s a position Martindale said he’d gladly have taken prior to a ball being kicked this season.

And the gaffer heaped praise on the local community after they picked up over 4000 free tickets for last week’s 2-0 home win over St Johnstone.

He said: “The crowd on Saturday was incredible and we all get a buzz off it. I know we’re in a cost of living crisis and it’s not something everyone will be able to do but it would be amazing to get a big crowd up to Dundee on Saturday.

“It might make all the difference to the guys on the park.”

He added: “We’re four points better off than last season with a game in hand. Everyone at the club would have absolutely jumped at the chance to be in this position.

“We’ll go there with confidence but we can’t control what happens with the other games. We’ll give it our best shot and see where that takes us.”
