M62 live updates as traffic stopped after crash involving 'multiple vehicles'

Traffic has stopped on a motorway on the outskirts of Greater Manchester following a crash involving 'multiple vehicles'.

The M62 is blocked on the eastbound carriageway near junction 22 for Denshaw due to the incident this afternoon (October 19).

National Highways says it is working to reopen some lanes but drivers have been told to expect delays.

In a post on X at 3pm, National Highways said that there was approximately two miles of congestion with delays building quickly.

Traffic is currently not moving between junctions 21 and 22 on the eastbound carriageway, according to the Traffic England website.

In the post shared on the National Highways: Yorkshire account, the public body wrote: "Traffic is being held on the M62 eastbound within J22 (#Denshaw) following a collision involving multiple vehicles.

"We're working to reopen some lanes.

"Delays are building quickly on approach, approx. 2 miles of congestion."
