M61: Traffic stopped on motorway after incident

Queues were building on the M61 motorway after an 'obstruction' in the road.

All traffic was been stopped in both directions, according to traffic alert service Inrix.

It was stopped from junction six for Horwich to junction eight for Chorley.

Queues were building up to the closure. It had cleared by 11am.

Both sides of the motorway have now been reopened after the emergency repairs were carried out.

Traffic is currently being held between J6 and J8 on the M61.
