M4 long delays as motorway blocked - live updates

There are long delays on the M4 near Newport due to an "obstruction" on the road. One lane of the M4 eastbound is closed as queues begin to form in the area.

The obstruction is thought to be around junction 24, but congestion is now trailing back to junction 27 as rush hour traffic descends on the area.

Traffic monitoring system INRIX shared the following update: "Long delays and one lane closed due to obstruction on the road on M4 Eastbound from J24 A449 (Coldra) to J23A A4810 (Magor Services). Congestion to J27 (Highcross)." The incident log was created at 6:40am.
