Luke Littler responds to Jurgen Klopp's comparison with Liverpool's young guns

Luke Littler has responded after being compared to Liverpool's young stars by Jurgen Klopp.

The teenage darts sensation has defeated some of the best players in the world and claimed honours early in his career. The 17-year-old, who is a Manchester United fan, rose to stardom during his remarkable run to the World Championship final at the turn of the year.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke about Littler after relying on some of the club's academy prospects in recent games. A handful of youngsters featured in their Carabao Cup triumph last weekend, while Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns got on the scoresheet in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

The Reds boss talked about looking after his young players: "I don't feel that, I know that. You [the media] are all not ready to do it so somebody has to ask for it. Nobody is Luke Littler. What could disturb a career for a young prospect, [media attention] is always one part of it."

"It was wonderful, they deserve it, the spotlight was on them that night [against Southampton]," he added. "You don't live on the planet if you don't see how special the story was but, besides that, the next challenge is now how to deal with all the things coming up. These boys are fantastic in that department as well. Really down to earth and grounded, all that is absolutely fine."
