Livingston Women's striker targeting career milestone - but team success comes first

Livingston Women’s striker Emma McFadyen is targeting a career-best goals return in her debut season - but not at the expense of the team.

The Broxburn ace signed for the Lionesses from Spartans in the summer and is eager to play her part in a successful maiden SWPL2 campaign for the club.

Having spent part of last term on loan at East Fife, she has experience of the division and knows what to expect.

And while she’s hoping to bang in the goals, she says it’s all about the team first. Speaking to the Courier, she commented: “I want to score more goals this season than I have in any other season. To be honest, that’s my aim heading into any new year - I want to improve.

“But it’s all about the team first. When I’m given the opportunity to play, I want to be scoring goals but the most important thing is doing whatever the team needs from me.

“I’m more than happy to provide assists or take up space for others to make the most of. I’m a team player first.”

She added: “We’ve got a really good squad and there’s loads of competition all over the park. I want to play my part in training to earn minutes on the park, which isn’t going to be easy either given the standards at this club.

“And when I get the opportunity, it’s about making the most of it. I’m really excited about the season.”

McFadyen says she’s settled into life perfectly at the Tony Macaroni Arena, adding: “It’s been great. All the girls have been really welcoming, which is all you can ask for as a new signing. It’s been really enjoyable training with them.

“It’s a well structured club who go about things the right way. The women’s team are treated the same as the men's players, we all get kit handed to us and things like that.
