I've walked in Rangers shoes of Dessers and Danilo and here’s my advice for scrutinised strikers - Kenny Miller

They’re just a handful of games into their Ibrox career and already Cyriel Dessers and Danilo are getting stick. Welcome to Rangers, boys.

Big Nigerian Dessers got slated by a section of the home support for his performance against Livingston in the Premiership last week. Then on Tuesday night, Danilo missed an open-goal chance against Servette in the Champions League qualifier. And, while both were on target against Morton on Saturday, I have to say, I feel for them. Because I’ve been there, I’ve walked in their shoes. First of all, I’m going to defend £6million man Danilo on THAT chance. Hear me out on this.

People who haven’t played the game or been in that situation think the goal’s there, so just kick it and score. But it’s not as simple as that – even on your strong foot. When it’s on your weaker side, like it was with Danilo, you can sky it, slice it or get underneath it. Listen, the Brazilian HAS to score. The manager is still searching for someone to be the centre-forward he can rely on.

I genuinely feel for Dessers. I know how unforgiving a place Ibrox can be and when things are going against you, it’s tough. He’s giving the ball away cheaply and missed a couple of chances you’d expect him to take. He will feel like everything is going against him – and I’ve been
