Livingston v Hamilton: Lewis Smith ready to face old side and Accies-daft dad will still want to him come out on top

Livingston star Lewis Smith admits tackling old club Hamilton Accies will be a strange experience for him and his family this weekend.

But he reckons his Accies-daft dad Graeme will want to see the Lions come out on top in the Championship clash.

Smith severed a 15-year relationship with Accies over the summer when he left his boyhood club for a fresh challenge at the Lions – and now the sides will meet for the first time since, when the South Lanarkshire side come calling on Saturday.

The 24-year-old expects a surreal experience but he is determined to make sure he is the Smith celebrating at full-time.

He said: “I was at Hamilton for so long so it will be weird to see everyone again, but I am really looking forward to playing.

“It will be a bit strange, especially with my family connections and the fact they will want to come along to the game.

“My dad’s side of the family are all Hamilton fans so it will be a bit weird for them.

“Obviously, my dad will be wanting me to win, but he has been to a couple of Hamilton games since I left in the summer so he still very much supports them.

“I think he just wants me to do well and that will be the best case scenario for him.

“Once you step on that pitch, it all goes out the window and you concentrate on the game. I am fully focused on getting three points for Livingston.”

Smith goes into the game in good form after shaking off a groin strain early in the season to notch his first goal in Livingston colours during Saturday’s 2-0 win at Spartans in the third round of the SPFL Trust Trophy.
