Liverpool tipped to beat Man Utd to Leicester City transfer as Wesley Fofana pens news deal

Here are your Leicester City headlines on Tuesday, March 8.

Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has spoken of love for the club after putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal.

The centre-back was one of the standout performers first season at the club after completing a move from French side Saint Etienne in the summer of 2020.

His performances led to admiring glances from other clubs, but his future now lies at Leicester City after he signed a deal until 2027 in what is a huge boost to City.

Fofana is close to completing a comeback from a leg break and ankle ligament damage he sustained in pre-season.

And the defender spoke of his delight at committing his future to City.

Gary Lineker says Wesley Fofana's decision to sign a new contract at Leicester City is "excellent news" and insisted they have missed his quality this season.

The Foxes confirmed Fofana has penned a deal until 2027 that will go some way to ending speculation over his future amid transfer links to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

And in a further boost to the club, the defender and could be set to make his long-awaited return from injury this week when they face Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa Conference League.

Fofana has not kicked a ball this season after he broke his leg and suffered ankle ligament damage in a pre-season friendly against Villareal and his return is a huge boost for boss Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester hero Lineker, and the BBC's Match of the Day host, gave his verdict on the Fofana news with a post on his Twitter account.

He said: "Excellent news. Can’t wait to see @Wesley_Fofanaa (the right @ this time) back on the pitch. Been hugely missed this season."
