Liverpool fans pile in as Philippe Coutinho comments on Aston Villa transfer
Liverpool fans have been reacting to Philippe Coutinho's comments about his exit from Anfield four years ago.
Coutinho, currently on loan at Aston Villa, is away on international duty with Brazil and spoke to media from his homeland about his present situation. The 29-year-old joined Villa until the end of the season back in January and has been a hit so far for his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard.
Villa have an option to sign Coutinho for £33 million at the end of the season, and they will likely trigger the clause with seven-goal involvements in ten games for Gerrard's side so far. Coutinho is back in the Premier League after his acrimonious exit from Liverpool in 2018, signing for Barcelona in a whopping £142m deal.
The former Inter Milan winger had made his name at Anfield and came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League with Gerrard in 2014. Coutinho's time at Barcelona has become synonymous with failure given he is in his second loan spell away from the Camp Nou and Xavi's side are keen to offload his wages and contract.
